FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fredericksburg EAA Chapter 1088 Prepares for The Texas Fly-In 2006

An aerial photo session occupied members of EAA Ch. 1088 at Gillespie County Airport Saturday morning, August 20th, 2005.

Members of the chapter flew four successive rendezvous with Jim Mulvihill and pro photographer Mark Bennett as Mulvihill orbited southwest of Fredericksburg.  Mulvehill flew his beautifully restored L-19 Warbird while one after another the airplanes being photographed climbed up to fly in echelon to his right more than 200 feet away. Mark Bennett snapped pictures of members' airplanes at 5,000 feet posed before a background of dry-weather cumulus "sheep" clouds stretched in rows to the horizon and beyond.  Thanks to a big telephoto lens on Bennett's camera, each picture will be a portrait.

Besides giving Fredericksburg Chapter members wonderful photos of their airplanes to hang over the mantel, these in-flight pictures will also appear in the Official Program of The Texas Fly-In to be held at Hondo, Texas, on May 12th and 13th 2006.

According to Texas Fly-In Chairman Stan Shannon, the event program has always featured pictures of EAA home-builders' aircraft, but almost all of the photos have been made on the ground.  "The best photos of airplanes are ones taken in flight," Shannon said, "so we want to emphasize in-flight images for our 2006 Fly-In Program."

"An aerial photo-shoot is easy to organize,"  Chairman Shannon concludes, "and home-builders who might hesitate to pay to have just their own airplane photographed in flight can save money when it's a Chapter activity.  All you need is an experienced aerial photographer, a steady photo plane and some good weather."
